Greetings!

If you are reading this most likely you have already heard about the Sally Friedman article in the New York Times. It's funny, but I just happened to run into Sally yesterday (after not seeing her since last May) and she excitedly told me about the article, but she didn't say she mentioned our club in it. What a pleasant surprise! So many GCNJ clubs are in North Jersey and I know a lot of members up there read the NYTimes. There were also several gardening articles related to the annual Garden Conservancy's Open Days Program where 19 outstanding private gardens in North Jersey are open to the public for charity. So I know this particular issue will be well read by northern gardeners. This is really good publicity for our club and town on the state level!
Here is the article in case you missed it:

Next year, our theme is going to be 'In Our Own Backyard.'
I felt that this theme relates not only to our own homes, but the Community House, our town, Burlington County, and even surrounding parts of our state. So with this theme in mind, Mary Jane is busy preparing programs for the upcoming year. She was considering hiring a very good, garden photographer from PA that we read about in the Inquire, but we (and many others) were so impressed Jen Bulava's (the girl who came to talk about the Burl. Cty. Park system) photography skills, we decided to ask her to come back next year to give us some pointers on photographing our gardens and flowers. We thought, "Why not use someone from our own backyard?"
Jen is a lovely girl and professional photographer with her own web site. To see a preview of her work, check out the link below:

Her pictures are beautiful and you can order prints from her site. I particularly loved the Four Seasons photos she took at Smithville. We will have some for sale and/or raffle at a meeting next winter. But if you can't wait - consider ordering some, her prices are very reasonable.

TTFN, Jolee
