Welcome Moorestown Garden Club Members!

In an attempt to keep our members up to date with the most current information that might be of interest, I have decided to try a Blog format. I am new at this so please bear with me. I am learning as I go along. I will try to update when I have information or musings to share with you. I have no idea how often that will be, but I would like to encourage you to check in periodically for news and bits of information that I think should be related. Of course if there is something of importance that everyone should be made aware, I will send out personal emails.

A really cool feature of this blog is the ability to post pictures, and as soon as I figure out how to do that I will. I have some beautiful springtime shots of Carmen's back yard. (I'm not going to use any one's last name on this site because I'm pretty sure it can be accessed by others on the web. I will however, use an initial along with a first name if we have two or more members with the same name.) I receive so much info from Carmen that she should have her own little place on this blog, maybe called 'Carmen's Corner.'
Anyway, this is a wonderful site by professional photographer, Amy Suttyn that Carmen told me about:

If you click on it you will be able to see Amy's pictures of the Phila. Flower Show. Almost every arrangement in the design classes is there. Not to mention archives of past shows.

Carmen and I are going to continue to award certificates of recognition to noteworthy front or side yard gardens in town again this year. Look for the recipients in the Sun. The Garden Club of NJ calls this award the 'Random Act of Beauty Award,' but we (Carmen and I) don't like that name. There is nothing "random" about all of the work and dedication it takes to plant and maintain a beautiful garden, so we call it:
"The Moorestown Garden Club's
President's Award for Outstanding Garden."
Quite a mouthful I know, but we like it better.
The recipient of this month's award is going to a lovely couple on McElwee Rd. They have planted hundreds (which have turned into thousands) of daffodils in their woods right along the side of the road. I have some pictures of their property, but they are on my other computer and I'm afraid if change computers I won't be able to go back to this and add the pictures. I promise I will figure it out though. Hopefully for the next post.

Today is Arbor Day and Monica A. and Sandy D. organized a lovely ceremony at the Middle School. A special thank-you goes to Monica. The wonderful job she did is a true testament to her, especially considering she was a new member last May and she will be leaving us this June. The last couple of weeks while she was diligently working on Arbor Day she was also preparing and then showing her house for sale. It was a lot of work, the least of which was leaving the house with her three dogs, a Mastiff, a Golden doodle and a mini Poodle, every time a realtor wanted to show her house. Luckily, she had many offers and sold her house within the first week! The week before Arbor Day! Anyway, it's a great loss for our club, but I'm sure she and her family will be happy in North Carolina where her husband's job is taking them.

I'm going to try and post this now so we'll see what happens.

Wish me luck!

Jolee
