The new Main St. Planters

Gina marks a potential spot for the new planters.

In July, Gina and I went to Haddonstone to check out the size of the 'Compton' Planter. The two of us then met downtown (twice) to map out every potential spot for a planter on Main St. Gina submitted the locations to the Township to be approved. After the Township received the paper work, we then had to meet with Township Manager Chris Shultz so he could look over the spots personally. Nineteen locations were given the green light.

After the township was satisfied, it was time for the Main St. Planter Committee to take over!

D'arcy, Donna and Barbara did some diligent research, and with the help of the Depenbrocks, decided on a trailing juniper, a miniature nandina, two purple balloon plants, a chartreuse sedum, and an ornamental mini pepper plant.

Depenbrocks sent two strong young men to deliver the planters and we picked 10 of the most visible spots to have them placed. Soon after, Barbara, D'Arcy, Donna, and Gina filled them with a layer of small stones and soil, and a couple of days later, we planted them with the plants that the Chairs had selected and delivered.

These last two photos are of the finished product. The Nandina should turn to beautiful Autumn colors of orange, red, and yellow, to make a great Fall showing. Thanks to everyone who helped in this project. You did a great job! Positive feedback from some shop owners and passersby have assured us that they are being enjoyed and appreciated, and hopefully, as funds permit, we will eventually be able to add more to help beautify the Main Street Business area.
