My arrangement for the Fall Conference

Various views of the arrangement I made for the fall Conference. The table arrangements were donated to a local veteran's hospital. Very appropriate since it was held on Veteran's Day!

GCNJ Fall Conference 2009

Two of my favorite table arrangements, made by the various club members, at the conference.
And a great picture of Jane Bersch and Deirdre Gross of Pinelands with Cecelia, except that Deirdre has her eyes closed. I did take another picture of the three of them, but in that one Cecelia has her eyes closed! Oh well...

Creations from the GCNJ Fall Conference

These last seven arrangements were created by Brenda Bingham of Montclair Garden Club who gave a demonstration on 'Arranging in unusual containers.'
The last Christmas-type arrangement is nothing but a shoe box with holes cut into the sides and Christmas paper glued on it! Inside it has a plastic liner with oasis to hold the cut branches.

Community House Fall Clean-up '09

The Community House was spruced up by Gina, Clorinda, Clorinda's lovely daughter Katie, Lee, Brenda and me. Beds were cleaned out, weeds were pulled, mums planted, roses pruned and a vine transplanted.
Thank you everyone for your efforts. The Community House is a town treasure and the garden club's home. It behooves us to to do our best to make it beautiful!
Behooves...is it just me, or is that not a really silly, pretentious word? And yet, as the president of the garden club, I feel I should use it. It behooves me to use it.

Senior Tour and Tea Oct. '09

We had a beautiful day for the senior Tour and Tea. Luckily, Mother Nature cooperated with a warm temperature and sunny skies. Our hostesses: Lynn, Jan, Jackie and Joyce, did a wonderful job making our guests comfortable as they served them delicious home made cookies and sherbet punch. Many seniors told me how happy they were for the chance to get out and see the foliage and how grateful they were to the garden club for giving them the opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who baked cookies for this wonderful and heartwarming project.

Longwood Gardens

Cecelia and I visited Longwood Gardens in October for the World Association of Flower Arrangers exhibition of contemporary arrangements created by its members. Coming from thirty-one countries and working together in teams, each group interpreted a different region of the United States. I didn't write down which arrangement went with which region. See if you can guess! Ha ha, impossible I know...although the arrangers did an amazingly good job using indigenous plants and flowers. It was fantastic!
